Introduction

Crucea commune is a quiet area, ecologically clean, but especially spectacular for the landscape of Dobrogea through the variety of the relief and of the natural elements. It is located in the north-west of Constanta County, on DN 2A, the main artery connecting the county with the rest of the country.

Constanţa County is located between the Danube to the west and the Black Sea to the east, in the historical province of Dobrogea. Constanţa County holds a great wealth of vestiges of the historical past, some of them dating from the seventh century BC, when the ancient Greeks founded on this territory a number of colonies: Histria - today Istria, Callatis - today Mangalia and Tomis - today Constanţa. Subsequently, since the first century BC, the territory enters under Roman rule, then crossed by the migratory peoples and troubled by wars.

Following the War of 1877-1878, Dobrogea comes out from the Ottoman occupation and reunites with the country, thus being fulfilled the second stage of the Romanian union process.

Dobrogea has always been the "different" region of Romania. From all points of view. Protected by the rest of the country by the long arm of the Danube, the river wrote down through the ages, the history of the localities whose banks it comforted. Territories that sometimes belonged to Romania, sometimes to Bulgaria, sometimes to the Ottomans, and sometimes to anyone, but always blessed by God. Dobrogea was, since ancient times, a promised land for many people.

In terms of geomorphology, the surface of Crucea commune territory belongs to the Prebalkanic Plateau, individualizying as the Dobrogea Plateau. Dobrogea Plateau is a tabular plateau, with wide rippled and flat interfluves, with average heights between 100m and 200m, ending in an abrupt towards the Danube and the sea. The major relief has a prominent character of abrasioplain (abrasion terrace) covered by a quite low layer of loess.
